Many people select nursing as a career because they enjoy “taking care of” other people. Orem's conceptual model of nursing focuses on individuals with limited abilities to provide continuing self-care or care of dependent others. Describe the difference between “taking care of people” as a general term and professional nursing practice directed toward helping people meet their own and their dependent others’ therapeutic self-care demands.
In general taking care of people means "Give help to people who are unable to meet their daily requirements itself."
But in professional nursing practice for people with self care demands include the following steps,

*Give assistance in daily activities like,
# Brushing.
# Bathing.
#Feeding.
#Dressing/Grooming.
#Ambulation.
#Miscellaneous activities[Use of electrical equipments,writing and reading books,Toileting etc.]
*Provide education to both family members and patient toghether and conduct seperate sections to understand their demands.
*Entertainment programmes for the patient like, indoor games,TV shows, family gathering etc.
