what are 3 concepts of organizational learning in healthcare
Organizationsl learning is a process to improve the knowledge and learning of groups and teams to enhance the capabilities and outcomes of organization.
It involves three concepts:
1. Knowledge Management: Healthcare organizations need to deal with new discoveries and changes everyday. This leads to professionals to acquire, transmit and retain the knowledge. The new changes needs to be implemented, policies and procedures requires modification with time for patient and healthcare professionals safety. All this requires management of knowledge.
2. Organizational Memory: organizational learning involves organizational memory. It is the institutional memory and old knowledge about how the procedures were done, policies implemented, how healthcare organizations management has been running and what were the results and outcomes of tasks carried.
3. The process of organizational learning: The process through which an organization or institute learns and gains knowledge is important. The process of learning involves need to choose and adapt to existing knowledge, experiences and processes which can solve the problems; creating supportive work environment for learning; emphasizing learning through experiment; mantaining balance between medical professionalism and management.
