The damage to the skin or tissue caused by hot liquid,sun, electronic items,fire or chemical.

The important aspect to be considered while resuscitation are as following

• Stop the burning process ( removing victim from source,any ornament causing further injury, clothing)
• Cooling the area is equally important , should be cautious about hypothermia
• Pain management to be done if smaller burn pain is managed well ,but if it is larger medication are administered
• Large bore cannula are inserted to prevent and manage fluid loss
• Dressing with hydrogel are done
• Oxygen administration is greatly needed

Laboratory values are greatly affected there is a change in WBC,ESR,CRP, neutrophil percentage because of the inflammatory response.

In respiratory system changes occurs like paCo2 is increased and paO2 is decreased. Closing volume, maximum mid expiratory flow rate and peak rate are lower.

Some patients may also need a ventilator support for survival.
