A) Do you think leading a health care organization by serving the most profitable customers or providing the most profitable services might create health disparities?

B) What would be the effects of providing the most profitable services to the most profitable customers on population health?

Solutions

Expert Solution

(A) Yes, leading a health care organization by serving the most profitable customers or providing the most profitable services might create health disparities. This is because, if only most profitable customers are treated, then the result of it is that, the rich gets better treatment because they will be able to give more money/benefit. On the other hand, the Poor's would not be able to get health facilities because they would not give more profits as compared to Poor's. Hence it would create the disparity between rich and poor.

(B) There are following effects of providing the most profitable services to the most profitable customers on population health –

  • The rich would awail the health facilities easily while the Poors would not be able to get such facilities.
  • It will create more disparities among the society.
  • The human resource development would not take place at grass root level because most middle/low class families wouldn't get health facilities.
  • If would make poors more vulnerable to diseases and other related social problems like malnutrition, working leave due health issue, psychological problems due to facing discrimination in health services etc.
  • The purpose of Health care sector would become more towards monetary benefits than towards human development.
