Solutions

Expert Solution

Shared governance means nurses collaborate with each other for best practice and to make decisions for development of patient care in efficient way.

Small nurses meet between their shifts helps to promote this.

Staffing pattern in ICU is 1:1 and in wards it can be 1:3 .

In units 1:3 sometimes 1:2 or 1:4.

Functional nursing is practiced hence issues will be encounter by all staffs not only by the responsible staff.

Currently in between the shifts they have nurses meet that they discuss about their patients in their units.Sometimes after their shits they have class to discuss about a condition. It gives a great chance to all staffs. In the units they conduct the weekly quiz and assignments which makes nurses more curiosity to work through. They have monthly ranking among them in participating all this above mentioned. Thus their performance improved by shared governance. The process can be improved by also providing informations via electronic methods like emails which will help them to study wherever they want.
