Explain, in detail, why atomic radii do not increase uniformly with increasing atomic number. Give specific examples in your answer.
usualli atomic radii increases with increasing atomic number in groups because while going down new shell will add resulting increasing in atomic radii.
15th group N P As Sb Bi
atomic radious N to P increase largly while going down the group increase is very less because of completely filled d and F orbitals decrease the screening effect due to that there is no much increasing in atomic radii.
N to P large increase because adding d orbitals increase size largely resulting radii also.
in periods atomic radious slightly decreases because added electron will be in same shell due to increase in nuclear attraction slightly decrease in atomic radii.
