Applying evidence-based practice is often met with resistance to change. Change can be challenging at the personal level and organizational change can be met with much resistance. To overcome barriers, leaders must have a clear vision of where the organization is headed and how they are going to get there (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2015). Belief in goals with a strategic plan that considers barriers will bring these goals to actualization. Continued action, persistence and patience will drive the initiative through completion (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2015). What barriers to implementing evidence-based practice have you encountered or observed in your practice? How were these barriers overcome?
The EBP focus on theoretically& clinically significant problems in nursing.
EBP has become the largest health care model facilitating the transfer of research evidence into clinical practice. The key target of these practices is to utilize best available information resources with optimal clinical expertise & patient values to achieve best health results and thus having a major role to strengthen the best nursing practices.
Furthermore the clinical nurse leaders are required to use evidence-based practices to ensure that patients receive the best care, making full use of the latest innovations in providing better care to the patients, leading to better patient compliance.
Unfortunately there are some barriers to achieve such goals of nursing practices.
Following is the lists of such barriers:
Thse barriers can be overcome by the proper planning of the health care schedule by RN leaders.
If required increase the number of nursing staffs.
The importance of such practices should be explained on organizational level to achive organizational support as well as to remove the concerned barriers.
At the same time there is need of team work, colleagues support.
Hence by utilizing such practices the nursing staff can achieve the best set goals in the healthcare organization for effective care delivery to the patients.
