select any five bones in the body and provide the following for each:
(e.g. – The occipital bone of the skull is found in the posterior, inferior portion of the cranial cavity. It articulates with the atlas at the atlanto occipital joint. The occipital condyles of the occipital bone articulate with the superior articular facets of the atlas (or C1 vertebra). The atlanto occipital joint consists of two condyloid (or ellipsoid) synovial joints, allowing flexion and extension and a small amount of lateral flexion.)
1. Humerus
Humerus is the long bone of upperarm. It extends from shoulder to elbow. The head humesrus articulates with the glenoid fossa of scapula to form glenohumeral joint which is a ball and socket type of synovial joint. It allows the shoulder for flexion-extension,abduction-adduction,rotation and circumduction.
2.Femur
It is the longest and strongest bone of human body located in the thigh region. The femoral condyle articulates with tibia abnd patella at it's distal end to form knee joint which is a hinge type of synovial joint. It allows flexion and extension of knee
3.Radius
Radius the biggest bone of forearm, ulna being the other. It is thick and shorter than ulna and present on the lateral side. The head of radius articulate with radial notch of ulna forming pivot type of synovial joint. It allows pronation and supination.
4. Hip bone
Hip bone is irregular and large bone present torso and legs. It has 3 parts i.e. ilium, ischium and pubis. These three bone converges to form acetabulum which articulates with femur to form the hip joint which is ball and socket type of synovial joint. this joint is also called as acetabulofemoral joint and it allows flexion -extension, abduction-adduction, external or lateral rotation and internal or medial rotation of the thigh..
5.Trapezium
It is a carpal bone and is irregular in shape. It is located on the distal row of carpals, towards the thumb/radial side and articulates with the first metacarpal to form carpometacarpal joint which is a saddle type of synovial joint. It allows flexion-extension, abduction-adduction, circumduction and opposition of the thumb.
