Describe five Gestalt grouping principles. For each, please provide a description with two parts: its name and a picture which illustrates the principle.
1. Similarity: We usually group together figures that are similar.
2. Closure: We tend to fill in the missing pieces to create a
complete picture.
3. Continuity: We tend to perceive smooth, continuous pattern.
4. Common movement: Objects that move together are seen as a
group.
5. Proximity: We tend to group nearby objects together.
