Summarize two key learnings during the session and how such learnings will influence your practice as a professional registered nurse. Provide additional research. After each Nurse of the Future Competency is an extensive bibliography. Utilize this bibliography to inform your paper.
Answer: The nursing job is collaborative. When a patient with a serious case is treated many nurses have to work together. The experience of learning should, therefore, be cooperative. Practical work should be given more emphasis to learn in a group and have a mutual understanding. This will be beneficial to work as a team and also in dealing with complicated cases.
Domains of learning are essential for nurses. The knowledge, use of the knowledge in skills and attitude is important. The most important domain of learning is cognitive learning. Knowing is cognitive that shows how much you know. Other domains are psychomotor and affective. Psychomotor is the physical skill that you can do in practice. The affective domain is the behaviour of nurses, that is important for the nursing decisions.
Hand off is necessary for nursing to have proper communication. Communication is important for working as a team. There should be mutual caring and responsibility of the nurses in medical care. This is important for the continuity of the patient’s care.
Patients’ safety is one of the important duties of a nurse. This is the responsibility of nurses. All the approaches taken by the nurse should ensure the patient’s safety. Errors should be prevented.
Safety culture optimises the patient’s health outcomes. This provides workplace satisfaction. The safety culture is a habit that should be developed. This shows the commitment to the organization by a health worker. This character of a nurse is monitored by all healthcare organizations. This will demand the knowledge, habit and dedication of a nurse to the patients’ safety in a medical care centre.
