If you were able to genetically alter photosynthesis, propose what you would want to alter and what would be the expected positives and negatives of your changes. Pick one plant (not the one you picked in question 3) to alter and explain what benefit your change would have for society
We can increase the rate of photosynthesis by genetically alter different genes involved in Calvin cycle by increasing its expression level so that production of glucose along with oxygen production. Also we can inhance photosynthesis even in low light intensity so that photosynthesis can be carried out with full efficiency even in cloudy day.
This physiological change can be positive impact on society are that high carbohydrate fixation in plant will support food requirement for high human population.
Also oxygen is prerequisite for survuval of all organisms including human. So it's production by photosynthesis is also positive impact.
Negative impact is that we purposefully forcing plant to synthesize more carbohydrate and oxygen for our own need which will cause physilogical stress on plant by genetically changing expression of genes. Also if plant increases photosynthesis then it utilizes more amount of carbon dioxide that will impact the temperature and also carbon cycle.
Hope it's clear .thanks
