The culture in Germany has been shaped by major intellectual & popular currents in Europe, both religious & secular. Germany is called as country of poets & thinkers (Das land der dichter & denker). The country is specifically known for its oktober fest celebrations in Munich, its carnival culture & globally influential Christmas culture known as weihnachten.
German is the official & predominant spoken language in Germany. Other native minority languages are Danish, Sorbian, north Frisian & saterland Frisian. In 21st century, Germany has been an important country for development of contemporary analytic philosophy. In music some of the renowned classical composers in the world are Bach & Beethoven. Germany is the largest music market in Europe & third largest in the world.
German cinema dates back to very early years of medium with the work of max skladanowsky. Germany’s television market is the largest in Europe with 34,000,000 TV households. Around 90% of German households have cable or satellite TV & viewers can choose from variety of free to view public & commercial channels. Architectural contributions from Germany include Carolingian & ottoman styles. Important precursors of Romanesque. German art has long & distinguished tradition in visual arts from the earliest known art of figurative art to its current output.
Beliefs in Germany:
It was revealed that there has been considerable decline in traditional Christian beliefs especially regarding Christ as son of god, infallibility of pope, the virgin birth, supernatural miracles, and belief in the bible as word of god & in regular church attendance. Greater support was extended for wedding divorced persons, abolition of celibacy & permission of priests to marry.
