ABC model of Attitudes

Meaning of Attitude:

Attitude is a feeling or a way of feeling and acting towards a human being, thing or situation.

Generally, attitude can be of two types:

a. Positive Attitude

b. Negative Attitude.

Definition of ABC Model of Attitudes:

Every attitude has three components which are as follows:

· A for Affective

· B for Behavioral

· C for Cognitive

I. Affective Component:

An attitude which is originally created as a reaction of an emotion is affective attitude. Such as fear or hate.

For example: Seeing a lion and getting panicked.

II. Behavioral Component:

An attitude which consists of a person’s tendency to behave in a particular way towards an object.

For Example: A statement, “Remove the drunkards from the party”.

III. Cognitive Component:

An attitude which shows our general though process associated to an object or happening.

For example: Drinking is harmful for liver.

Conclusion:

In an organization, attitudes of the organization as well the people working for it is important to achieve the goals or objectives. Each one of the components are very different from each other and all together form our attitude. Attitude further affects our understanding of relating to the world.

Job Satisfaction or Organization Commitment

Meaning of Job Satisfaction:

Job satisfaction means contentment towards the job. As in, if a worker likes his or her job and is happy to perform their job.

Measurement of Job Satisfaction with three components:

a. Affective

b. Behavioral

c. Cognitive

Explanation:

· Having an affective experience at work.

· Having a Productive behavior with no intention to quit the job.

· Having a cognitive bond with the organization.

Importance of Positive Attitude towards job satisfaction:

Having a positive attitude not only helps you to lead your personal life. It also supports a person to grow professionally.

Positive Attitude helps us to have a positive outlook making us feel satisfied at work and also leading us towards achieving organization commitment which we have with our employer. Because, a positive attitude and keeping an ethical behavior at work impacts our psychology and makes us a better person which supports us individually to reach our commitments towards our organization as well as being satisfied towards the job we are doing.

Researchers Recommendation:

The researchers recommended that the employees should be provided career progression and professional development within the organization, which includes in-house training programs. Along with practice of job enrichment in the workplace. These are the tools suggested to make the employees happy and satisfied with their jobs.
