How does nutrition, health care, and stress affect development?
Nutritions are substances like blanced food that contains proper amount of protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, fibers etc,. These are very important in the process of development and growth of human body. These provide the materials that body needs in order to function properly. When body is undernourished and deficient in any essential nutritions, the metabolism of the body slows down slowing the growth rates of cells and also the immune system weaken hence making our body more prone to diseases which can damage our cells sometimes temporarily and sometimes permanently. In such cases health care comes to play. When we are diseases we need immidiate health care to stop the damage caused to our body. Every part of our body has it's own contribution to our growth and development, when even one is underactive or damaged the body can not work on it's full potential and the development process is hindered. For example malnutritioned children develop deficiency diseases like ricket, which makes their legs crooked. And delay in health care can lead to death due to even simplest health issues like fever or diarrhea. Stess is also a major concern these days. Earlier the large effects of stess were not known so it wasn't paid much attention to, but now studies have shown serious effects of stress on health and development. Even it has been seen that if mother is much stressed during the pregnancy, the growth of baby is also affected. Stress does not only have psychological symptoms but also physical. High level of stress for prolonged time has been linked to behavioral and emotional development and increase risk of developing heart problems, obesity and diabetes in later life. Chronic stress changes the structure of some parts of brain, which can also decrease memory and cognitive abilities.
