What factors affect health inequality and how does inequality affect your health? For example, why do patients with Medicaid get different attention than those with private insurance?
One of the most important factors that affect health equality is one’s economic status. If a person is rich the person would be able to get any kind of treatment in any hospital because the cost of the medical treatment has gone up rocket high leaving the poor without the scope of getting quality treatment. This means those who are better of in the society would get better treatment options. Institutional racism and unequal social structure would also lead to systematic negligence of people from healthcare.
Private insurance companies charge their customers more thus offer premium health care options whereas the government Medicaid do not cove all the diseases or all the costs thus making the hospital managements prefer privately insured patients. The worst thing there is that only those in the lower level of the social structure wouldn’t be able to pay for private insurance companies thus ending up not getting enough treatment facilities.
