Every person's style is different to deal with difficult people. It is also inevitable that we meet such people at our home or workplace. If i come across such difficult people who can be your naughty brother, friend, your angry boss and co worker then first thing i do is to control my emotion. Controlling emotion is very important for me to deal with such people because whenever such people came to me, it is natural that our mood started to change. we can be more angry and frustrated. So controlling our emotion first helps to deal with such people. Second i tend to be more calm and professional at work. I just listen what other people says and neglect/ignore them because i know their views are negative and does not matter to me.
On the other hand if there is situation where my friend or co worker is giving me difficult times then i tries to understand his perspective and intention. I put myself in his shoes to know what he is feeling. I start to make discussion with him and try to understand the situation.
There can be situation where we need help of such difficult people lik team project at workplace so we can motivate them first respect their emotions and efforts. Respecting others automatically create a base of trust and cooperation. Imply them that if they cooperate then they will get benefit out of this. This could be promotion, bonus, rewards etc.Welcome thier views, ideas and make them feel part of team so that they will also percieve that they are needed for the job and their performance is valuable to them.
