What steps can a small business owner take to differentiate their products?
For a small business, it is hard to invest in marketing in order to create a brand image, the consideration would, therefore, reside with forming better customer relationships in order to create brand loyalty and this can be achieved through higher levels of services being provided to the customer. Although the company would be dealing with a product, the associated values for services would still apply. The customer's point of interaction should be an experience that makes them want to return for repeat purchases. The interaction should be personalized to suit the needs of the customers. Using social media as a platform to get to know the customers between and to form a bond with them would allow for easier access to the word of mouth publicity as well.
Getting the community involved in the process of ownership through getting their ideas shared with the design of the product can allow for a higher level of engagement than otherwise possible with just marketing, being that their stake is more than just brand loyalty.
Although we can spend more in making the product better itself,
the associated values of customer interaction, service, and
engagement combined with designing the product better have a higher
level of consideration.
