Assume that you are the owner of a large e-business. Explain the steps that you would take to control spam. Be sure to include advantages and disadvantages that accompany your steps.
Spam has become quite an issue in organizations and specially in organizations that deal more with online presence and one such example is the ecommerce business. In order to control spam in the business the various steps that I will be taking up are:
1. Sender Policy Framework implementation - This will enable the organization to understand the email servers from where the emails are sent and also the IP address from where it has been shared. In this case of there is a need the administrator can reject the mails from this particular domain to enter.
2. Each and every email possess a DKIM signature and as soon as mails enter the DKIM signature are checked that they are valid or not and if they are not valid then they can be rejected.
3. Whitelist and Blacklist - In this the administrator generally define a domain as whitelist so that email from such sources are accepted and the blacklist are domains which are rejected and generally mails from such domains are rejected. This reduces monitoring on a regular basis.
