What experience have you had with the legal system? Do not wish to infringe on anyone’s privacy. Did you hire a lawyer? What would your recommendations to others be, based on your experience?
The legal system is complex but when used with proper caution, is a great tool to protect oneself and sue others as well for any tort that might happen.
In case of any such issue comes that might have to infringe someone's privacy to go through the problem, then it is good to hire a lawyer. Though, I haven't ever hired a lawyer.
My recommendations are:
Privacy infringement is a complicated issue that involves different rules for different societies. Unwanted intrusions into one's situation at hand to be alone or with family are, at the micro-level, a breach of privacy. The intrusion may be other people's physical presence or the noises that one does not want to hear. The degree of privacy relies on the intruder's proximity which is generally established culturally. Protection from surveillance for example while eating, weeing or establishing intimate relationships is an important element of privacy in certain practices. Privacy in this way can be abused by being forced to report objectionable items. Although not all interference is a breach of privacy, because of changing societal norms and growing contact between people of various cultures, the line is hard to decide at every given moment.
The second aspect of privacy violations is the dissemination of sensitive knowledge about people. Findings and direct infringements can also be a way of accessing knowledge that is kept hidden by the person. When data about a person is accessed either through bribery or by force against his or her consent, their privacy has been breached. When any person discloses information to a larger public or their data is stripped away, privacy is breached. In certain cultures, privacy rights have been expanded to include all the protection from the dissemination of false or deceptive information about a person.
The third aspect of privacy violation is a lack of flexibility in personal decision making. Although that is probably the most debatable aspect, it is appropriate for a husband and wife to decide whether to use birth control or not, for example, under many social and legal structures. A woman's right to opt to abort a baby is being claimed as the freedom to make private decisions independently.
Different legal structures stress different facets of privacy rights; certain rights to privacy are difficult to differentiate from rights of protection for personal dignity, identity and independence from legislative and other foreign agents 'intervention. Litigation over violating privacy rights can occur between stars or media personalities and the press, particularly sensationalist tabloids. Within the legislation of some nations, public officials such as diplomats or monarchs tend to have fewer privacy protections than the others, as anything that affects them could be considered official news.
So, one need to step very carefully by complying with all the laws and regulation when trying to obtain any data about anyone.
