Brown Peterson tsk lab is a research work to investigate the short-term memory and provide evidence for the multi-store model.

In the experiment, the participants saw three letter consonants such as  GKT or WCH and then they were engaged in the distracting task. the distracting task is to keep participants keeping away from any rehearsal. The distracting task consists of numbers such as 3,6,9,18, the trigram and math numbers are ey different. The inference was that there is short-term memory 80% of the participants could recall after 3 seconds an shows the decrease in remembering trigram consonant and after 18 seconds hardly 10 % could remember it.

Studying with television or radio does not affect much in paper pencil task but it does the effect in memorizing task. Television is more destructive then radio as it has both music and picture, shows structural disturbances, while only with the radio on. the disturbance is not very large and the time taken with or without the radio is same. Various experiments are done to find out the effect of television and music by the scientist, children are more distracted by television than a university student. Different types of music like soap opera that has dialogues and native language distract more than the foreign language. It is very difficult to generalize the effect of television and radio for all types of students. Every child is having a different intelligent level

Our own experience can show when we do the assignment with the television on the distraction is much more than the music, as the television disturb us with music sound and picture, while the radio is playing only music.
