Describe some sociological, biological and social psychological theories of crime
Let us consider some theories and classify the into the categories of sociological, biological and social psychological categories.
Positivist school - This school claims that criminology comes from the external as well as internal factors which are beyond control of the person. This school falls under sociological, biological and social psychological school. Biological factors stated that criminals should not be held responsible as biological factors or temper it is beyond their control, Sociological - Sociologist claims that factors like poverty, background of parents, family pressures lead them to crime. Social psychological perspective - This would include the pressure given society which the criminal is not able to handle.
Labelling theory - This theory says that the person is labelled. They are being continuously said that they are bad, criminals and not good people. This stigma makes them more becoming criminals. This would fall under social psychological theory, the person would do more criminal activities if he being labeled.
Routine activity - This activity claims that the criminals gets opportunities that they get to do crime, such as suitable guardian, suitable target or offender. Where there polices or security forces the person would not do crime.
