Modern genetics can prevent the tragedy of a life doomed by heredity. Embryos can now be screened for some genetic diseases. But what constitutes a disease? Should genetic testing be used to select a child’s characteristics? Is so—what characteristics.

Solutions

Expert Solution

Modern Genetics has been able to explore the possibilities of diagnosis of a few diseases and disorders before birth and during the prenatal time period which help in avoiding or reducing the effects of certain conditions of the disease or disorder. A disease can constitute a condition during the prenatal development of a child which may lead to conclusive disorders and diseases in future of the child’s life span. However, It must be noted that exploration of such diseases is a very dangerous manuver and can lead to to miscarriage or termination of pregnancy. genetic testing should not be used to select the child's characteristics but can be used to determine conditions which can lead to neurological or developmental disorders but should be conducted with high precision and caution so as to prevent any mishappenings. Additionally, the factor of psychological trauma should also be accounted for in discovery of a particular disorder of a prenatal child towards the pregnant mother and/or their family.

Hope this helps; please like for efforts.

Although multiple molecules are important in modern molecular labs, in Genetics Lab, we will be focusing on DNA. Throughout the semester, our treatment of the DNA can determine if we are successful or not in meeting our experimental goals.   You are going to consider several treatments that might affect DNA shape/form/function. We use some of these treatments on purpose in order to manipulate our DNA, but sometimes we avoid these treatments to keep from harming our DNA. You will be...
