It is a group of workers who have either the employer freely recognizing them as a union or else have a plurality of workers in a bargaining division to union representation. In both situations, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) must accordingly certify the union. In the eyes of law, any worker is authorized to enroll as a trade union, and the employer can't object to it. It's equal even if any work doesn't want to join it either. Shop steward or
the union representative is an employee of an organization who exemplifies and leads the union and also protects the interests of fellow employees as a worker union member.
Types of unions:
Craft Union: the work hours for laborers who relates to the same or specialized skill and form a union are called a craft union.
Industrial union: The workers in related to industry can form unions irrespective of their craft.
Federations:
These are nationwide level apex bodies in which people of big positions like plant level unions, craft unions, industrial unions, and general unions are combined.
Some employers don't want union because there are chances that according to employers unions wants and needs are not correct and they would not agree that their employees come forward and make any union against them.
