How has industrialism affected gender roles and stratification?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Industrialization has brought sea of change in the society and lots of opportunity for the women folk but it has also introduced more inequalities in terms of wages, promotions, family life etc. Society wasn't ready to accept woman as equal to man thus rejecting employment opportunities for a long time. Society was also worried about how women would behave if they are not supervised by the men from their families. Women were sexually targetted and more harassments took place at the work place. Women were not considered for high profile jobs as men were not ready to believe in women's ability to do such tasks. Family members, especially the male members still decided what works women would do. Today, almost most of the women do two jobs, one at home and the other at the workplace. Women are gaining their equal status in the society thus involving in almost all the fields and work on par with men. Although the place for women at workplace is not as hard as yesteryears, there is long way to go.
