How is gender different than sex? Describe and evaluate at least 2 third gender roles and three sexualities found in humans.
The difference between sex and gender is that sex is a biological concept based on physical and physiological characteristics, whereas gender deals with personal, societal and cultural perceptions of sexuality. Third gender or third sex is a concept in which individuals are categorized, either by themselves or by society, as neither man nor woman. The third gender roles can pertain to androgynes, who are partly male and partly female in appearance or of indeterminate gender, as well as intersexed individuals, who may have both male and female sexual organs or characteristics.
When it comes to sexuality, there are many ways humans can feel sexually attracted – to others of the same gender, to others of the different gender, to both, to neither or even to himself or herself. Some of these are described as under:
