1. Choose an active life style instead of sedentary life style. Exersice which should be done for about at least 3 days in a week also stress training exercise also should be included. This can be brisk walking,pacing , running etc according to ones energy and ability level . For example teaching the person about importance of active life styles and complications of sedentary life style can help in persuading the person
2. Screen for diabetes mellitus. Most older client are at risk of DM and will not get diagnosed until complications occur . So giving a proper Idea on disease and screening for it can help in preventing complications. For example can speak to client on complications like nephropathy, neuropathy , retinopathy can help in persuading the patient to go for a screening instead of sitting idle
3. Screening for serum mineral and vitamin levels - old age client does may lose the ability to maintain body mineral and vitamin level due to decrease in hormone activity in the human body . This can lead to complications so it should be prevented. For example by teaching the patient on complications like lack of calcium to maintain integrity of the bones and showing this example to the patient will Help him to go for a screening
