Answer. In feyrer’s model of women status and fertility there are three phases :-
Early phase- wage rates of women are very much lower than that of men. Women are always expected to virtually work and do all the house chores including taking care of children and their homes. Women have less labor force participation rates.
Intermediate phase- labor force opportunities for women have improvised but still theses opportunities are not as good as that of men. They still have a burden of child care and other home chores. Female labor force participation is increased as compared to the first stage and also there is a negative relationship between female labor force participation and fertility.
Final Phase- labor force opportunities for women have become now completely equal or almost equal to that of man. Men now also take more home responsibilities and child care as compared to that in the early stage. Female labor force participation is much more higher than in intermediate phase, but this interferes less with having and raising child because of more participation in home by men and an increased availability of child care compared to the intermediate phase, so there is a rise in fertility.
