. What do you think accounts for this disparity in revenue between drugs for infectious diseases and drugs for other conditions?
Ans- Drugs for infectious diseases- Treatment can be done easily after knowing the cause of diseases and specific bacteria which is caused the infections. IT makes easier to the doctor to choose appropriate antibiotics.
Antibiotics is common drugs of choice for infectious diseases .Certain types of antibiotics are suceptible to particular classes of antibiotics. Antibiotics are mostly use for bacterial infections.
Antivirals-sometimes there are drugs to treat infections caused by viruses,like HIV infections
-Herpes
-Hepatitis B, C, these all are treated with antiviral drugs.
Antifungal- this is to treat antifungal infections of mostly in skin and nails.
Antiparasytic-some diseases are caused by parasites like malaria. It is treat with drugs of choice and sometimes parasites developed resistance to drugs.
We should know all the drugs of choice for specific caused bacteria and viruses and why that medications given for that speicific infections and how that works.
Drugs for other diseases. - drugs which can be given for other treatment is different from drugs for infectious diseases. Drugs of other diseases like - seizures
- heart attack
- Hypertension etc.
These all diseases are treated with drugs of choice and there is no need to identify which bacteria and viruses causes and directly can be given for that specific diseases. But in the infectious diseases should be think and choose appropiate drugs for the specific bacteria and viruses and need to know which bacteria caused.
So, there are very different between drugs of infectious diseases and drugs for other diseases.
