1. What are some factors that contribute to the development of emerging infectious diseases and reemerging? Include an example.

2. What are some examples of one or more major zoonotic disease and their modes of transmission?

3. How do vectors play a role in the transmission of disease? Give examples of major Vector-borne infection and their modes of transmission?

4. What are some prevention strategies?

Solutions

Expert Solution

1) Some of the factors that contribute to the development of infectious diseases are agricultural development ( For example rodent infestation are common in farms and some of the rodents are infected and when humans come into contact they contract some infections) Afforestation (For example afforestation has lead to increase in deer population and that increases the population of ticks and these ticks are vectors of some infectious diseases) Travelling ( If an infected person travels to another region that person can infect many people) other factors are unhygienic conditions, climate change etc.

2) Chikungunya, plague are some of the major zoonotic diseases. Chikungunya spreads through mosquitoes, Plague spreads mostly by rodent bites.

3) Vectors are organsims that help to spread the disease from one infected person to a healthy individual. They play a major part because of their role in transmission of disease as withy the help of vector the disease cannot spread. On of the major vector borne disease is Malaria and it's mode of transmission are mosquitoes.

4) Some of the strategies that we can follow are

a) Eating healthy food and avoid junk food

b) keeping your house and surrounding clean

c) Keeping yourself clean and washing hands regularly

d) Disinfect the surroundings if an infection is spreading

e) Preparing the food with caution.

f) Getting vaccinated

Hope this helps, Good luck!!!
