The answer to the above problem is as follows:
What role should measurement play in a good testing strategy?
Software testing is an indispensable part of the software development life cycle and without testing, no software can ever be rolled out in production. So the measurement of the methods and strategies that we use for testing come under this category and its basically to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of a testing strategy.
We can generally say that if we want to improve any aspect, we need to measure it first. And this is why the measurement of testing is important. If we dont have any measure of it, there is no scope for improvement.
So this measurement is clinical to plan out the the next phases of activities and to make go-no go decisions in the lifecyle. Also, these measurements serves as an indication or rather proof of what we predict in terms of performance and output.
And once we have enough metrics to measure on, we can take decisions as to whether there needs to be any change in the process or not. Its essentially getting to understand if the current process or methodology is working or we see a change in requirement of the software and we need to change the testing activities accordingly.
