Have you participated in online promotions (e.g., on Facebook or IG), and if so, what has been your experience? Considering just a single online promotion that you participated in and considering yourself representative of the brand's target market, do you think the promotion accomplished its objective?
If you haven't participated in an online promotion, visit a local grocery store and identify five instances of sales promotions. Describe each promotion and comment on the objectives that the promotion was intended to accomplish for the sponsoring brand or for the retailer.
Answer: Yes, I have been a part of such promotion. I often get promotional messages from various brands and once there was a very interesting promotion. This promotion was from a small restaurant chain that was active in my city and also in some other major cities. This promotion was in form of a survey format. In this promotion I had to answer five questions in all, three questions related to the restaurant chain and two related my preferences about food. On answering there was a discount coupon for the restaurant that was to be sent to the mobile phone or e mail id of the winner. I answered the questions and got a discount coupon on any order above $ 10 at the restaurant. It was a very good experience as I got some real gains by participating in the promotion.
As a representative of the brand’s target market, I feel that the promotion was very successful. It not only captured my opinion and brand awareness about the restaurant chain but it also my personal detains and preferences. Thus this campaign was very effective in not only creating brand awareness but also enabling the company to know about the target audiences. The discount coupon was a very good way to involve target audiences and make them visit/re visit the company’s outlet.
