For this assignment, you participated in an online experiment on facial recognition. Using the data that I gave you and your statistics from the analysis, you will write a short lab report (2-3 pages) in APA style consisting of an Introduction, Method, Results, Discussion, and References.

Doing the experiment online is only to give you an idea of how the experiment works. You will write the mini lab report as if you were the researcher who conducted the experiment.

You may use this article by Rehman and Herlitz (2007) as a reference in your report: Facial Recognition Article

Here is the grading rubric for this report: Mini Lab Grading Rubric

Online Experiment on Facial Recognition

Introduction

Facial Recognition is a system , whereby the faces of an individual is recognised using the medium of electronic devices. In this case , gender differences has been made in facial recognition.

Method

Face Recognition has two applications . They are :

a. Firstly , it identifies the face of a person .

b. Secondly , it verifies the face .

Biometric Method is a way of identifying the face recognition. It access the information and matches with the information available in the database. It is a secured way of conducting face recognition . It is done digitally with full security systems. It automatically detects the face of an individual , digitally.

Results

Given statistics it has been found that Women had outperformed as that of Men . Women were good in identifiying the faces of opposite sex or same sex. Whereas Men did not perform that well. Women fared well on verbal tasks as compared to men. Women were better in recognising more faces than men . Faces were presented before them , for a few seconds . That was the time limit within which they were supposed to identify .

Discussion

Generally speaking, faces were of more interest to women than men. This has a biological reason . Women ranging from 20 - 40 , were better in recognising the faces than men . It was observed that women are more kind of familiar with the same sex faces. Being familiar , was a way of identifying the faces of same gender for women.

You, recently participated in an experiment to test the effectiveness of saturation patrol on residential burglaries. Prior to the experiment there were two neighborhoods (both about the same size) in your city with an equal number of residential burglaries. Burglaries in these neighborhoods were inordinately high. Prior to the experiment both neighborhoods had the same number of patrol officers assigned to them across all shifts. The captain assigned twice the normal number of patrol officers to work in Neighborhood A...
