The muscular system is known for that system that allows for movement. A lesser known attribute is that it is also responsible for keeping our body temperature at 98.6 degrees.
In this discussion, a study of what is a fever? Define fever, and why does the body experience this event?
Fever - fever is having a temperature above the normal range due to increase in body temperature set point
Temperature is regulated by hypothalamus. trigger for fever is called pyrogen.
pyrogen maybe Exogenous or endogenous. Pyrogen causes the release of prostaglandin e2 .prostaglandins e2 acts on hypothalamus and increases the set Point of body temperature.
hypothalamus senses this new set Point and increases the body temperature by two mechanisms that is retention and production of heat
retention of heat is by peripheral Vasoconstriction.
Production of heat is by metabolism of brown fat by norepinephrine and muscle contraction raises the metabolic rate
if these two efforts are not sufficient and to make the blood temperature to the new set Point then hypothalamus increases the body temperature by shivering mechanism and that’s the fever increases and does the body temperature increases
by this way we can know that muscle contraction also helps in fever
