Uber is a multinational company, based at SanFrancisco. It operates with the help of a mobile app, in which customers place their requirements for a trip to someplace and that trip request is sent to the Uber drivers, who then pick up the customers with their cars and drop them to their destination for a charge. It has its operation in more than 50 countries and almost all the major cities of the world. The demands for Uber cabs are continuously on the rise, but lately, the company has been faced with many ethical issues. The most crucial complaint that Uber is facing regarding the unethical practice is that of lack of social corporate responsibility. The ethical issues that Uber is facing is that of -

1.Lack of passenger safety- The passengers riding Uber cabs have complained about a lot of cases relating to sexual assault, molestation or improper behavior by the Uber drivers. Uber is lacking in providing passengers a safe ride.

2. The drivers' security is also at stake- Passengers call for the Uber apps and book them for different destinations at different timings. The drivers complain that at many times the drivers are beaten by the customers or robbed or their cars are damaged by the customers and Uber is not taking proper care for the driver's security.

3. lack of privacy of data- Many of the Uber's unethical employees are using customer's mobile phone data to track their records or activities. Customers are complaining that they are been tracked.

Uber can ethically perform its business, but due to its type of operation, it becomes quite difficult for the company to operate ethically. It is very difficult for the company to know about the true identity of the customers or the drivers. It has to spend a lot of money for this verification purpose and to act ethically. But this will increase the cost and its profit will go down. To survive in a competitive market, every business has to act ethically, if that requires more spending, then also company should go for it as a part of corporate social responsibility. To improve ethical performance, the company can act like this-

1. It should install security devices that can send SOS message to the nearest police station, in case of some assault takes place within the vehicle.

2. It should try to verify the background of the drivers.

3. It should try to employ employees with good background

4. In should delete employee records as soon as the ride is completed

5.It should install cameras at places to record movement of the vehicles.
