Other than the usual traffic reporting, conversion tracking, keyword referrals, third party referrals etc. Advanced Google Analytics include features like enhanced ecommerce, features to define segments, audiences etc for your specific purpose. The reports will give you the number of impression, traffic, conversion of your particular ad campaign, also keyword referrals show what words were the viewers used when they found your website and third party referral gives you idea about which other sites are promoting your website and which are not. The report also divides the total traffic and conversion rate in to different segments, like into different age groups, different geographical areas, different devices used, the data received are in-depth data which shows minute details like for example, if you are an ecommerce firm, it will even show which products are most popular and which are not, even their segmentation.
In managing a short-term promotion, it is important to know that the promotion reached its target market. While assigning audiences of the promotion the above mentioned data can be used from historical data of any previous promotions for the same product and in the case of absence of historical data we can use the data obtained after running it for a while to better understand the segmentation and which audience to chose as the target for the particular promotion. In most of the cases marketers run more than one promotion campaign to see which one reaches the audience accurately and after a few weeks of running they will take down the least performing and continue with the most performing one using the data obtained.
