What factors can prevent a president from being effective while in office? Why is “the power to persuade” so important to the presidency?

Solutions

Expert Solution

The reputation of a president is highly affected by the rise and fall of the Gross domestic product. The economic condition in the country is a major factor determining if the president will have another term of office or not. An incumbent government that has irresponsible members of the Senate. A revolutionary opposition also degrades the working of the President. In a democracy, people are the ultimate power, and thus not to forget, people indirectly can greatly affect the working of a president in his office.

The power to persuade is an important tool for the presidency. Every President is expected to perform more than what higher authorities give them the power of. To influence and implement a policy, the president has to use the power of bargaining with the ruling government, with the executive branch, other political parties, members of the assembly, bureaucrats, and all the heads of the agency. The first thing that the power to persuade aims at achieving is the fulfillment of the responsibilities of each individual in the cabinet. The second aim is to take advantage of the power and use it in his favor of not disappointing people who think he has a higher power. It is the job of the president to persuade and refrain from commanding.
