Jim and Noelle are both new powerlifters. Noelle told Jim about her new training routine and said she had a 20% increase in circumference around her upper thigh along with a 15% gain in leg strength after only a month on her new routine. Jim had been struggling with both size and strength improvements so excitedly adopted Noelle’s leg training plan. After 2 months, he had still only gained about 8% in size and 7% in strength. Assuming they have similar diets and started with similar body fat percentages, what is the most likely reason for the difference in their responses to the same training routine?

Solutions

Expert Solution

Though Jim and Noelle both do the same muscle strength exercise and diet plan and started with similer body fat percentage for two month both get different results because for muscle strength there different factors matters.they r=

1. Genetic make up= the person who are from athelatic background has more strength of muscle. The ACTN3 gene directly associated with the alfa-actinin-3 muscle protin which is directly associated with high speed, powerfull muscle strength exercise etc.

2. Age= in younger age body muscle has more strength and muscle reconstruction is good. In older age muscle strength & mass decreased.

3. Gender= the male person has more muscle volume than female . there strength of muscle also more.

4. Length of limb & hight of body= the muscle length & hight of body also fact. As the muscle with more length requor more potassium & ATP for construction.

5. Hormone level= The hormone that mainly affects muscle strength is Adrenalin. As this hormone is for the flight & fight response and also significantly effcet the heart rate , blood pressure, muscle blood flow , periferal vascular resistance (PVR) so the level of this hormone in body is effects strength of muscle.

6. Good lifting technique = the enogh raising time increase muscle strength more. More the time of lifting more increase in muscle strength.

7. Other factors= the other factors that affect muscle strength are - I. Potassium ione accumulation in muscle,

ii. Increase proportion of motor nurone,

iii. Increase in stimulation frequency,

iv. Increase body nutritional requirements,

v. Any disease condition arise like inflammation, accidental injury, psychological conditions of the person etc.

Both the CDC and the WHO recommend routine handwashing (with soap) as a mechanism to reduce the transmission and acquisition of COVID-19. This is because... A. Soap is amphipathic (i.e. has both polar and non-polar regions). Because the phospholipid membrane of the coronavirus is likewise, soap (in essence) dissolves this membrane, and the virus becomes inactive. B. Washing your hands with soap creates a barrier that prevents the virus from causing an infection should you happen to touch your eyes,...
