The Role of Intersectionality and Inequality Regimes
In 1 paragraph, explain how intersectionality and inequality regimes affect the work-related problems (and solutions) discussed in “Why Do Skilled Immigrants Struggle in the Labor Market?”
Unemployement among the immigrants who have earned their merits based on their qualifications is double as compared to local employees with the same skill set. One potential reason behind this can be that governments value their own education system more than foreign education systems. Language differences can also lead to inquality in opportunities for the immigrants. Bias, Subconscious beliefs and stereotypes also create work related problems for them. Employers many times avoid "bad hiring" and hence they go with the locals.
Employers discriminate by names many times. Familiar sounding names often receive a call back from the employers, while foreign names rarely receive a call back.
To solve this, while recruting, recruiters must only see the technical qualifications. Other details such as name, culture, locality must be ignored. This would provide an equal opportunity to the immigrants and dthe localities on any work opportunity.
