Intersectionality impacts others in myriad negative ways. It steals others of opportunities and chances. I have seen many instances where intersectionality has oppressed people. Some include: a person of color not being included in social events, a person who is highly educated is given a second priority for a job posting because of their gender (female), older people who are discriminated against because they are old and dependent, non-English folks made fun of for their lack of language skills thus reducing them from performing to their truest capabilities etc.
Personally, intersectionality impacts my everyday life too. It makes me fear and anxious in social situations where I am discriminated for my gender, sexual orientation, social class and religion. It curbs my individual freedom to operate more independently and uninhibitedly as some intersectionality factors come in the way and places hurdles on my path to achieve success in a small or big way.
