Importance of Civil Engineering in Infrastructure development of Society :

Civil engineers play a prominent role in development of infrastructure of society. Structures constructed way back will show a path of civilization and present structures exhibit experience and practices followed by civil engineers.

For proper functioning of a community and society, fundamental structures are required. Infrastructure development involves construction and maintenance of these fundamental structures.

Any government system cannot manage to do all this without professionally skilled man power like Civil engineers. Infrastructure development involves fundamental idea "less space and more efficiency" and which is embedded in Civil engineers. Not only Civil engineers ,any infrastructure development needs all departments of engineering.

Civil engineers should use science, wisdom , technology and experience in Planning, designing and construction phases of any structure.

Infrastructure facilities includes :

1. Provision of surface communication links such roads , highways , railways etc

2. Provision of water distribution system

3. Construction of drainage system

4. Provision of telecommunications

5. Provision of recreational activities or places

6. Provision of electrical power
