Roles and importance of the civil society in order ot handle the problem of COVID-19

As we all can see that cases of Covid-19 are increasing day by day and lakhs of cases are increasing on daily bases. In this crisis situation where the people are running for their lives corruption is also increasing in this situation. Corruption is significant risk in this situation and the allocation of the funds is the major problem because due to corruption the funds are not reaching to the people who need them because of the corruption. This crisis is also one of the challenge for the civil society because there are opportunities as well as risks in these type of situations.

In this pandemic the corruption risk increase and many steps are being taken in order to make sure that the funds reach the destination carefully to the needy people

This is the challenge for the civil society that the movement has been closed by the government and the lockdowns are considered everywhere in the world. The civil society is acting as watchdog to make sure that everything is fine.

The use of the civil society has become and need because of the practice of donors and anti-corruption efforts. Civil societies are engaging in anti-corruption programs to act as a watchdog for making sure that funds are secure and safe.

As per the UNODC report the civil societies are considered as the broad space between the private and the public sectors. While, the aid financing of the civil societies is biased as compared to the NGO’s.

This situation provided the opportunities for the civil societies to engage beyond the NGO’s such as the churches, nurse unions, scouting groups, membership groups etc.

Let’s take the example of the Philippines the scouting groups were engaged to make sure that the textbooks and notebooks has reached the intended destination in this crises so everyone is making sure that they are giving their personal best in order to ensure that no one is sleeping hungry. This shows that how engaged they are in order to help the needy people.
