Where should an organization start a change effort if the needed change is determined to be revolutionary? And if the needed change is determined to be evolutionary?
Change is inevitable, and every organisation needs to bring transformations (major or incremental), In order to remain competitive and to face the challenges brought in by the environmental factors. Organisations experience two types of change, evolutionary and revolutionary. Evolutionary change is the incremental change, which happens very slow and is involved in every day functions or processes. If helps the organisation to grow and reach a higher level of success, considering the long term planning. Revolutionary change beings major transformations, by changing the strategic goals, products/services, with more improved offerings and more effective strategic decisions. It is a radical change and it is important to gain competitive advantage.
✓ when the need is to bring revolutionary change, the organisation should start changes from strategic goals, products/service departments, and other aspects like technological advancements, research and development, etc.
✓ an organisation should start a change in its routine activities, on going processes, behaviours of the members, and other functional activities, that needs improvements and minor changes, when the needed change is evolutionary.
