where should the quality control function be placed in an organization
Quality control can be defined as inspecting the products or data whether it is as per company's expectation and standard before it convert to final product.
Quality control includes the testing the product as per the specification. The quality is important to know whether product is as per specification or any corrective measures needs to be taken.
Quality as a part of job responsibility in Manufacturing - Many companies implement the quality control in manufacturing, operations, productivity The different programmes can be implement like Six Sigma. Company set the rules and regulation for the manufacturing process for each and every cycle of process. So that every employee can follow those rules and regulation as a part of quality check during the process. It comes as the part of their job responsibility.
Quality as a part of responsibiliy in Data processing or operation - In the service Industry company can implement the SOPs that is standard operationg procedures. In such SOPs every steps of process is clearly. So that the new employee can also perform the accurate work as per the SOPs. This way company can maintain the quality check on work and minimise the errors or escalations.
Quality as per departments - Every organisation has different department like finance, accounts, marketing, design , logistics, sales, supply chain, purchase etc. In each department company can appoint a team who will be doing a quality check of work of that specific department. and they can individually report to management. This is another way to monitor the quality on wide level and reduce the errors.
