The difference between the functional, matrix and project organizations are as follows:

1) Functional Organization: This is the kind of hierarchy wherein every employee would have the clear superior or the staff member which are being grouped by speciality which contains the marketing, production, engineering, accounting, production. Every department is considered a functional organization will have the project work independent on departments.

2) Matrix organization is where the reflection of blend with regards to functional as well projectized characteristics which can be differentiated as weak, blended or strongly dependent on the level of power and influence with regards to power and influence between the functional as well as project management.
