A management information system is a computer based tool or mechanism that provides an organisation a General structure to organise the data and helps to evaluate the same. A perfect MIS is not only the software but it also helps in the manufacturing system is more than just a few pieces of machinery. A management information system is just a collection of different softwares and these softwares work altogether to perform a particular task. Before implementing this system (MIS) it is very important to what people need and what are the current trendings in the market with respect to softwares and before implementing this it should fulfill the requirements of the people, what processes the system will use and what data it will be able to access.
There are many key features Or characteristics using management information system. Below are the few features defined as :
Management information system helps us to analyze the data from more than one sources i.e we can analyze the data from different sources and We can choose the particular data as per our needs .Thus this feature defines the FLEXIBILITY while using MIS.
Another feature or characteristic while using MIS is that it is easy to use i.e. you do not need any prior knowledge , managers don't need prior information for getting the data what they want. Thus using MIS is EASY TO USE.
This information system should be able to support different skills and knowledge. This defines the versitality feature of this system
MMIS is actually a MIS i.e a marketing management information system is management information system which supports decision makings of the marketing. It is defined as the system which alludes collection of information in a systematic manner, analysis, storage of marketing information and dissemination and iterpretation from both the sources i.e from external as well as internal sources on continuous basis.
The MMIS distributes the particular information which is relevant to the marketers so that they can analyse that information and on that basis they can know the pricing, development, packaging, media etc.
There are mainly 5 key functions of marketing management information system Viz:
Planning
Organising
Coordinating
Analysing
Controlling
These above key features help in better decision making and analysis .
