One of the most important elements in the law enforcing agencies, is intelligence gathering and at the same time keeping it very secret because if the information get leaked, people concerned might escape or hide their intention. Unfortunately, there are lots of law enforcement agencies at various levels and they normally don’t share information among themselves. One of the most important reason for this is that the particular agency likes to gain name by attending to the issue, although at times it’s not in their control. If I have to advice the director of homeland security, I would tell that there should be a central control system that would gather all the information collected by various agencies. This system will then dispatch the information to different law agencies depending on the severity of the issue. It could be to community police, local police, FBI or even to the military. All the agencies should work together at times of major crisis thus keeping their ego away. Even when the FBI gets involved in something at a local level, the information should be shared with the local police in order to speed up the process as the local police know the local environment better.
