Please select and briefly describe an organization. Compare and contrast leadership challenges of a Project Manager and a Functional Manager in that organization, using a Project Management example for the Project Manager and an Operations Management example for the Operations Manager. Organization refers to aplace where several people come together and work to achieve same objective. Organization divides the work among the employees who are working and assign different different task to each employess according to there skills and the purpose is to achieve the goal of the company. It is a part of management and it involves coordination and team work among employees.
The difference between functional manager and roject manager are-
1- The duty of functional manager is to manage the people and the funtion of project manager is to moniter the process of the project or activity.
2- The functional manager is have formal authority in the organization, while project manager do not have formal authority on people.
3-Functional manager are the permanent employees or part of the organization, while project manager are consider to be a normal employee or a person in the company. They do not have any job title.
Let's take the example if a company organize certain project or actvity for 3 days then they won't hire any employee to manage the project. The company will assign one project manager from there office who will manage the project and no formal post is assigned to him and he is the normal employee of the company only.
Let's take the example of Operations Management. If there is a company and they are dealing with different different activities they will definitely hire permanent employee for Operation management activity which is known as operation manager. It is a formal post that is assign to a person and he have to work on various strategy, tactics and manage the operational activity of the company.
