Which methods of assessing personality would be most appropriate for each major view of personality? Why? Write a one-page report summarizing your conclusions.
Personality assessment is process of defining traits first then relating it to some observable behavior and then measuring these to conclude personality traits of an individual by observing his behavior.
Psycho analytic -- projective test are used as it give freedom to subject to choose their response and their unconscious traits come out on these test. It include , rorsach inkblot test , thematic apperception test etc.
Behaviourist - behavioural assessment . It measures personality based only on observable behavior. New emerging field in this is baseline baseline observation. These are recordings of response frequencies in particular situations before any treatment or intervention has been made. They can be used to measure response before any treatment and then after treatment to measure the effect and also conclude about personality.
Cognitive - it believes that thought are responsible for any observable behavior or trait. It involves cognitive assessment questionnaires have been developed to sample people’s thoughts after an upsetting event. Beepers (electronic pagers) have been used to signal subjects to record their thoughts at certain times of the day
Big Five model - Test like mmpi and CPU are better suited for measuring specific traits . Interview can also be helpful.
