(TCOs 3, 5) Discuss the three steps to follow when trying to distinguish between kinds of deductive arguments.
Deductive argument is a kind of argument where the researcher needs to test the stated statement .
Steps involved to distinguish between kinds of deductive arguments are as follows:
I would like to start the decutive argument with an example .
Mathematically speaking , if A=B, B=C , then A=C.
Hence , in this case the premise is true , then the outcome/result cannot be false . It needs to be a true premise . True conclusion comes from a true premise . But , after a avalid outcome , if you reject it then you are falsifying the logic of the statement.
1. Deductive arguments do not offer new information from the stated statement / premise. It seeks to identify those , which are obscured or the ones which are not recognised.
2. Deductive arguments seeks to identify the relaibility and validity of the statement. Reliability is the degree to determine , whether the statement is accurate or not . Only if the required statement is accurate , the researcher goes ahead with the validity part . Validity is the measurement , to determine whether the statement is valid or not .
3. Deductive arguments use more of mathematics tool as compared to inductive approach.
In case od deductive arguments , might or might not be valid .
