The three most common mental health concerns for veterans are Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
Veterans experience mental health disorders, substance use disorders, post-traumatic stress, and traumatic brain injury at disproportionate rates compared to their civilian counterparts. The findings suggest that mental health disparities are often a leading factor to the high suicide rates among veterans who experience depression and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Consequently, an increasing number of veterans are homeless, experiencing substance abuse problems and gambling addictions, which often lead to suicide attempts and even death.
Hence the veterans needs adequate counselling and mental health services for their better health.

The services range from peer support with other Veterans to counseling, therapy, medication, or a combination of these options.

is related to your military service. They also provide certain
other services for free.
Some Veterans may be required to pay a copay for treatment of their nonservice-connection conditions. While some Veterans qualify for free health care based on certain eligibilities.
Most Veterans will be required to complete a financial assessment at the time of enrollment to determine whether they are eligible for enrollment and for free health care services.
If the Veteran's gross household (including spouse and dependents, if applicable) income exceeds the VA income limits, the Veteran may be required to pay a copay for health care services.

After coming home from war, many soldiers face physical, mental, and social issues that make them a vulnerable population.
So there is necessity in the availability of services for veterans. Our community provides adequate services for veterans.
Some veterans face multiple barriers to VA mental healthcare service use. However, there is limited understanding of how veterans experiences and meaning, the systems shape their perceptions of barriers to VA mental health service use. The government is trying to give better services by reducing this barriers.
